NFL’s Carl Nassib Comes Out As Gay; First Active Player To Do So

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib posted in an Instagram video on Monday evening saying he was gay. Nassib is the first active duty NFL player to come out.

Here’s the video:

“I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I’m gay. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now but finally feel comfortable getting it off my chest.”

The NFL commissioner released a statement supporting Nassib’s announcement.

In the announcement, Nassib also said he would donate $100,000 to the Trevor Project, a non-profit designed to prevent suicide among LGBTQ youth.
