Newly released documents obtained by the Center for Public Integrity show the aid cutoff to Ukraine happened less than two hours after the now infamous Trump-Zelensky phone call last July.
The non-profit investigative journalism organization in Washington sued to obtain correspondence between the Office of Management and Budget and the Pentagon relating to the withheld funds. Two sets of heavily redacted documents were released. In one, CPI found an email showing a White House memo written shortly after the phone call, an another one two hours later that show the beginnings of the White House move to withhold military aid to Ukraine.
The aid was eventually released on September 11, after a whistleblower complaint. The Center for Public Integrity is appealing to have the redactions removed.
