Rep. Liz Cheney is sharing her father’s thoughts about the state of the Republican party. Her comments came as Cheney addressed the Aspen Institute to discuss “what the GOP’s top priorities should be and what it means to be a conservative today.” The Wyoming Congresswoman, who was removed from her Republican leadership role in Congress for speaking out against Donald Trump’s election conspiracy theories, said this about former Vice President Dick Cheney:
“My dad is deeply troubled about where our party is, deeply troubled about where the country is and he’s a tremendous source of advice and guidance and wisdom for me.”
The Hill writes:
Cheney’s comments about her father’s outlook on the current state of the Republican Party may come as a surprise to some, considering his reputation as being one of the most powerful vice presidents in history.
He was a key player in decisions made by the Bush administration, especially the move to send troops into Iraq following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
