The Case Against Scott Pruitt Keeps Growing

Another week, another handful of stories alleging wrongdoing by EPA Director Scott Pruitt. The list keeps growing longer, but somehow he still has his position. The New York Times reports:

“Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, discussed hiring a friend of a lobbyist family that owned a condominium he was renting for $50 a night, newly released emails suggest. The files also show communications involving the lobbyist’s client interests that have not previously been disclosed, suggesting a closer relationship between the lobbyist, J. Steven Hart, and the agency than previously known.”

Politico is also out with a story that Pruitt hasn’t been shy about hitting back against those who dare question some of the shadier things he has done.

“The U.S. Office of Special Counsel is reviewing claims that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt retaliated against a handful of employees who pushed back against his spending and management, according to three people familiar with the process.”

Then there’s the curious case of Pruitt’s emails or lack thereof. In this day and age, it’s pretty hard to do a job without communicating via email. Yet Pruitt has apparently found a way around it. Another investigation by Politico reveals he has only used his government email once:

“An examination of Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt’s government email accounts has uncovered only one message he wrote to anyone outside EPA during his first 10 months in office — a number that has watchdogs questioning whether he is communicating in private.”

When will enough be enough?
