Some of the first aerial footage from Lake Charles, Louisiana shows widespread destruction from Hurricane Laura and its 140-mph winds. Six people died in the storm that has already raced across Louisiana and into Arkansas Thursday night. Watch the video from the Weather Channel above.
Among the items damaged was a confederate statue in St. Charles that local officials had voted to keep in place. Now it’s in three pieces.
The South’s Defenders monument has stood since 1915 outside a courthouse in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where local authorities voted 10-4 this month to keep it in place.
