WAPO: Self-driving Uber strikes and kills pedestrian
Uber halts use of its self-driving vehicles across the U.S. after a woman was fatally struck by an autonomous car in Tempe, Ariz. The woman later died from injuries in the first-known pedestrian fatality from a driverless car. The company said the moratorium on testing includes San Francisco, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and Toronto.
The car was apparently in its autonomous mode when it struck a pedestrian outside a crosswalk in Arizona.
