WAPO: NFL owners approve team-by-team national anthem policy, will allow players to remain in locker room
The league owners approved the new rule Wednesday with the hope of ending protests during the anthem that have endured for the past two seasons and drawn criticism from President Trump and some fans. The change would go into effect for the upcoming season.
The NFL’s new rule states that players are permitted to stay in the locker room during the national anthem. But if they are out on the field, they must stand for the anthem.
