USA Today: Michael reaches hurricane strength as it heads for landfall along U.S. Gulf Coast
Hurricane Michael formed Monday morning in the Caribbean Sea and is heading for a landfall along the Gulf Coast by midweek.
The 13th named storm of the season is now a hurricane and it’s heading for Florida’s panhandle.
The National Hurricane Center says:
“Michael could produce three life-threatening hazards along portions of the northeastern Gulf Coast: storm surge, heavy rainfall, and hurricane-force winds, with storm surge and hurricane watches in effect. Residents in these areas should follow advice given by local officials.”
