Time: A Glacier the Size of Florida Is Becoming Unstable. It Has Dire Implications for Global Sea Levels
The melting of the Thwaites glacier in Antarctica could significantly accelerate global sea level rise, according to a new report.
NASA had discovered that a cavity two-thirds the area of Manhattan underneath Thwaites earlier this year, which indicates that the glacier is melting fast.
The Thwaites Glacier is one of five recently identified unstable Antarctic glaciers which have doubled their rate of ice loss in just six years.
Covering 70,000 square miles, it is likely to accelerate its flow into the ocean,#ActOnClimate https://t.co/kCjHAh452P
