The Week: 8 Republicans join Democrats in vote to limit Trump’s military powers in Iran
The Senate voted 51-45 on Wednesday to limit President Trump from pursuing military action in Iran without congressional approval.
President Trump had urged senators to vote against the bill, believing that it would “show weakness” to Iran.
I’m proud to cosponsor Sen. Kaine’s War Powers Resolution & pleased the Senate voted to advance it today. This res is an important step in preserving Congress’ constitutional role in matters of nat’l security & makes clear to Trump Admin it can’t drag America into war w/ Iran.
