The Hill: Ross threatened to fire top NOAA staff after office contradicted Trump on Dorian: report
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross threatened to fire top employees at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) after officials contradicted President Trump’s claim that Alabama could be impacted by Hurricane Dorian.
The New York Times reports that Ross’s threat “to fire top employees at NOAA...led to an unusual, unsigned statement later that Friday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration disavowing the office’s own position that Alabama was not at risk.”
Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology: "Wilbur Ross must resign. His direct attacks on the scientists and federal employees, whom he threatened to fire for doing their jobs by accurately reporting the weather, are an embarrassing new low."
