The Hill: Manchin pumps brakes on Biden infrastructure plans
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is emerging as the chief obstacle to quick passage of President Biden’s $2.25 trillion infrastructure package that Democrats want to move through Congress sooner rather than later.
While Democratic Senate leaders want to get this “done quickly,” Manchin says, “I don’t know what the rush is.”
“The bottomline is that it's time for us to do something that's needed for our country in a bipartisan way. It really is."
He said a package would be more than the $568 billion GOP alternative.
"It will be substantial – but it won't be $500 billion."— Manu Raju (@mkraju) April 26, 2021
