Star Tribune: Trial judge improperly refused to reinstate third degree murder charge against Derek Chauvin
The Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled Friday that a trial judge was wrong to refuse prosecutors’ request to add third-degree murder against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who is scheduled to be tried next week in the killing of George Floyd.
Chauvin’s attorneys could appeal this ruling in the Minnesota Supreme Court, which would delay the start of the trial. It is currently set to begin Monday.
