Axios: Senate passes Armenian genocide resolution in move likely to infuriate Turkey
The Senate passed a resolution via unanimous consent Thursday formally recognizing Turkey’s genocide of the Armenian people.
Three previous attempts at passing the bill were blocked by Republican senators who were concerned that it would further strain relations between Turkey and the U.S.
For people who have become cynical about public service, take 30 seconds to watch @SenatorMenendez get choked up before he closes the successful Senate vote recognizing the #ArmenianGenocide. He worked for decades to make this happen. pic.twitter.com/umknz8r6BN
