Reuters Exclusive: Foxconn reconsidering plans to make LCD panels at Wisconsin plant
Foxconn Technology Group is reconsidering plans to make advanced liquid crystal display panels at a $10 billion Wisconsin campus, and said it intends to hire mostly engineers and researchers rather than the manufacturing workforce the project originally promised.
Last year Donald Trump traveled to Wisconsin to break ground on this plant, bragging he was helping bring manufacturing back to America. At the time he remarked, “So we’re open for business. Made in the USA. It’s all happening, and it’s happening very, very quickly.” Now it’s not happening. Instead, these LCD screens may be manufactured in China, Mexico, and Japan.
