POLITICO: White House extends student loan payment freeze
A statement from President Joe Biden announcing the extension pointed directly to the pandemic and the economy as reasons for the pause. “[W]e know that millions of student loan borrowers are still coping with the impacts of the pandemic and need some more time before resuming payments. This is an issue Vice President Harris has been closely focused on, and one we both care deeply about,” the statement read.

Extending the student loan payment pause is a major relief for millions of Americans during this pandemic.
I appreciate everyone who organized and pushed President Biden to take action, and I’m grateful he listened to our call.
Next, @POTUS should #CancelStudentDebt.

I’ve been standing with @SenWarren, @RepPressley, & more calling on @POTUS to act.
It’s good he extended the pause on student loan payments amid Omicron—now he needs to #CancelStudentDebt to help close the racial wealth gap and provide relief to so many. https://t.co/WsamB1prlX
