POLITICO: Rep. Meehan denies harassing former aide amid settlement, loses House ethics seat
Rep. Pat Meehan’s (R-Pa.) office on Saturday denied charges that he harassed a former aide with whom he confidentially settled a workplace misconduct claim using funds from his congressional office budget.
Rep. Pat Meehan, a Republican from Pennsylvania, was on the House ethics committee, before today. He had taken a leading role in fighting sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Now it’s being reported he used thousands of taxpayer dollars to settle his own misconduct complaint. And today, Pat Meehan is no longer on the ethics committee. Congress can act swiftly if it really wants to get something done.
