Politico: Neera Tanden’s Senate committee votes postponed
Neera Tanden saw both of her Senate committee votes postponed Wednesday morning as her nomination to lead the White House budget office nears the brink of collapse and as bipartisan appetite to elevate an alternative nominee grows.
This postponement came as it seemed like Tanden may not have the votes to get confirmed. The White House isn’t backing away from her nomination though. Today White House press secretary Jen Psaki issued a series of tweets saying, “Neera Tanden is a leading policy expert who brings critical qualifications to the table during this time of unprecedented crisis.”
She has a broad spectrum of support, ranging from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to labor unions, and has a strong record of working with both parties that we expect to grow in President Biden's cabinet as the first South Asian woman to lead OMB.
