Politico: Capitol Police clear officer in shooting of Ashli Babbitt during Jan. 6 riot
The department’s internal investigation concluded that the conduct of the officer, whose name hasn’t been publicly released, was “lawful.”
Federal prosecutors had already declined to press charges as well, but certain people on the right have tried to blame police for Babbitt’s death. Donald Trump is among those trying to make the woman a martyr. Earlier this month he said Babbitt was “murdered” and that she “truly loved America.”
