Politico: Biden picks retired general Lloyd Austin to run Pentagon
The former commander of U.S. Central Command will be announced as Biden’s choice for secretary of Defense as early as Tuesday.
Austin has not been out of the military for the required seven years and would need a waiver from Congress in order to serve in the civilian position.
