Rep. Trey Gowdy, the South Carolina Republican, who spent the bulk of his time in Congress investigating Benghazi, retired from the House Ethics Committee abruptly, and lately pushed the release of the Nunes memo attacking the FBI, announced today that he will not seek re-election nor run for higher office, though he says vaguely “I will be returning to the justice system.” Gowdy has been rumored to be a potential Trump judicial appointee to the federal bench.
