As we approach the three month mark since Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, there are still questions about how many people died as a result of the storm. Due to a lack of communication in the weeks following the storm (30% of the island is still without power), it’s believed that some deaths may not have been properly reported.
The New York Times is reporting that Governor Ricardo Rosselló has ordered a review of all deaths since the hurricane saying, “This is about more than numbers, these are lives: real people, leaving behind loved ones and families.”
