NYT: Paul A. Volcker, Fed Chairman Who Waged War on Inflation, Is Dead at 92
Mr. Volcker helped shape American economic policy for decades, notably by leading the Federal Reserve’s brute-force campaign to subdue inflation in the 1970s and ’80s.
Volcker had also been active during the Obama Administration; as chairman of the Economic Recovery Advisory Board, he urged lawmakers to impose more restrictions on big banks after the 2008 Financial Crisis.
