NPR: Fees To Enter Popular National Parks Would Skyrocket Under Interior Department Plan
Entrance costs would more than double at the country’s 17 busiest parks. The park service says it needs to pay for deferred maintenance. But the increases may make the parks less accessible.
Pulitzer Prize winning author Wallace Stegner once said “National parks are the best idea we ever had. Absolutely American, absolutely democratic.” But they soon won’t be for everyone. Many Americans are about to be priced out of the parks.
