NPR: 2020 Census Could Lead To Worst Undercount Of Black, Latinx People In 30 Years
Public debate over a potential citizenship question and immigration enforcement, combined with the census going online, threatens an accurate head count, according to research by the Urban Institute.
The Supreme Court will soon decide whether the question “Is this person a citizen of the United States?” will be allowed on the census. The Urban Institute worries this question, requested by the Trump administration, will cause millions to skip the survey.
