Pressured by a wave of state laws taking effect on July 1, the college sports industry is on the verge of letting players profit off their names, images and likenesses.
The NCAA appears ready to break from years of tradition many said was unfair, and intends to endorse a plan to let student-athletes cash in on their athletic fame in the form of endorsements, personal appearances and autograph signings. It’s a move many say is long overdue in the lucrative world of college sports.
