NBC News: Florida can’t bar felons from vote over fines and fees, court rules
The state constitutional amendment was approved overwhelmingly by voters in 2018 to allow most felons who served their time to regain the right to vote.
Florida’s Republican-led Legislature had tried to institute a rule saying that felons had to pay certain fines or fees before their sentences could be deemed complete, and thus be allowed to vote.
Poll taxes are illegal.
It shouldn’t take a federal court order to teach Florida Republicans that — but I’m glad the courts have struck down their barriers to #Amendment4.
Fight on. https://t.co/pOH9C6OiLJ
