Miami Herald: Justice Department opens probe into Jeffrey Epstein plea deal
The US Department of Justice has opened an investigation into Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta’s role in negotiating a plea deal with Jeffrey Epstein, who is accused of molesting underage girls in Palm Beach.
Investigators are looking into whether Alex Acosta (now Labor Secretary) and other attorneys in Florida “committed professional misconduct” when they made a controversial deal to let Jeffrey Epstein off the hook with hardly any jail time. The billionaire is accused of “molesting more than 100 underage girls in Palm Beach” and operating a “child sex trafficking ring.”
This may need to be the beginning not the end. Not clear how this part of DOJ could discipline Alex Acosta (now Labor Secretary) if misconduct is found. Facts need to come out. Referrals made, if warranted. https://t.co/WjlSKAPJTj
