Media Matters: With his interview of Trump, David Muir failed his test
When you are a mainstream journalist and you have a rare one-on-one sit-down interview with President Donald Trump during a pandemic that has killed 70,000 people in this country alone, you need to do better than David Muir did.
CNN’s Oliver Darcy wrote: “Muir missed. The interview didn’t elicit any big news. Muir didn’t challenge Trump in any meaningful way. And worst of all, Muir allowed the President to float brazen misinformation with no pushback to his 10 million+ viewers.”

Interviewing a known liar without so much as a fact check or pushback is about as useful as a life raft with holes in the bottom.
