LA Times: Avenatti indicted on 36 counts of tax dodging, perjury, theft from clients and other crimes
A federal grand jury has indicted Michael Avenatti on charges of fraud, perjury, tax dodging and embezzlement from clients in a sweeping expansion of the criminal case against the Los Angeles lawyer.
Avenatti is accused of stealing millions of dollars from clients, and that barely scratches the surface of the crimes for which he’s accused. The Los Angeles Times says if convicted on all the charges, Avenatti is facing the maximum of 335 years behind bars.
