LA Times: L.A. Unified will not reopen campuses for start of school year amid coronavirus spike
Because of the spike in coronavirus cases, Los Angeles public school campuses will not reopen for classes Aug. 18 and will remain shut indefinitely.
In making this announcement both Los Angeles and San Diego counties said:
“Those countries that have managed to safely reopen schools have done so with declining infection rates and on-demand testing available. California has neither. The skyrocketing infection rates of the past few weeks make it clear the pandemic is not under control.”
