Justice Department will not bring charge against NYPD officer in death of Eric Garner
Garner died after an NYPD officer tried to arrest him for selling loose cigarettes. His dying gasp of “I can’t breathe” inspired nationwide protests.
The officer who performed the chokehold is still on the NYPD payroll, but there are reports that the family will now try to get him fired.
BREAKING: Justice Department will not criminally prosecute NYPD cop Daniel Pantaleo who killed Eric Garner 5 years ago. Garner was killed with an unlawful chokehold that was taped and viewed by the entire nation. This is a gross injustice.
