Questions are swirling about Jay-Z’s recent remarks about kneeling and his deal with the NFL. This morning former Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum remarked:
“We’re not beyond kneeling… I was disappointed something didn’t take place between Mr. Kaepernick and Jay Z. I’m not going to pity Colin Kaepernick about not having a job. This wasn’t about that. This is about injustice that continues to be pervasive in our society. That being said, Jay Z is not new to this. I think about the work that he’s done for the Trayvon Martin foundation here, for Sabrina Fulton, for Tracy down here in Florida. He’s conscious about these issues. I just — I’m hopeful, and I’m going to watch it as well, that there’s a bigger plan at play here, because we’re not dealing with a dummy. This is a smart man. He’s a businessman, but he’s someone conscious and aware of the environment and will do something to move the ball forward here.”
