NBC News: DHS Secretary Mayorkas grilled by lawmakers over border crisis
Mayorkas’ testimony comes a day after he said the U.S. is on pace to reach the highest number of apprehensions at the border in 20 years.
This hearing comes as President Biden tells migrants, “I can say quite clearly: Don’t come… We’re in the process of getting set up, don’t leave your town or city or community.”
"Children can make their claims for humanitarian relief in immigration proceedings as the law provides. If it is determined that they do not have a valid claim, they will be returned in a safe manor," DHS Sec. Mayorkas says to Congress about the ongoing issue at the border. pic.twitter.com/LfKL40kiZC
