CST: Tammy Duckworth gives birth to girl: First senator to have baby while in office
Duckworth, who turned 50 on March 12, is one of only 10 women in the history of the nation to give birth while in Congress.
Motherhood has also influenced Senator Duckworth’s politics while in the Senate. Since having her first daughter, Duckworth has introduced bills to ensure affordable child care, paid parental leave and other such causes.
