CNBC: Teacher of the Year delivers letters from immigrant and refugee students to President Trump
Mandy Manning’s students want the president to understand the experience of coming to the U.S.
During a one-on-one meeting with the president, Manning handed him 45 letters written by her immigrant and refugee students from countries such as Syria, El Salvador, and Burma. Manning says she’s hopeful that the president will read the letters. In a separate telephone interview with CNN, Manning said, “My aim is to elevate my student’s voices and be that vehicle for them.”
