CNBC: New York state judge rejects Trump claim that he can’t be sued because he’s president
In her ruling Friday, Justice Saliann Scarpulla shot down an argument from the Trump family’s attorneys that the case should be dismissed because the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution suggests “a sitting president may not be sued.”
The litigation seems endless. Now a New York State judge has ordered that a lawsuit against Donald Trump’s foundation can move forward. The suit alleged that the foundation― was “little more than an empty shell” and that Trump used the funds as a personal piggy bank, violating state tax laws.
