CNBC: John Kelly expected to stay at White House through 2020 election, but Trump expands shortlist for chief of staff
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is expected to remain at his post for the foreseeable future, according to three Trump associates and two White House officials.
There has been word lately that since Bill Shine joined the White House communications department John Kelly’s role as Chief of Staff has been further diminished. That’s just one reason this news comes as a surprise.
Confirmed that John Kelly announced at a senior staff meeting yesterday that Trump asked him to stay on as chief of staff until at least 2020. Keep in mind that in the two weeks leading up to Trump's disruptive Europe trip, senior aides were telling me he had days or hours left..
