ABC News: US jobless claims fall slightly to 793,000 with layoffs high
Last week’s total declined from 812,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said Thursday. That figure was revised higher from the previously-reported figure of 779,000.
While this was a decline from the previous week, analysts expected that there would be fewer layoffs due to the falling number of COVID cases.

Initial claims were 793,000 for the week ending 2/6 (-19,000).
