ABC News: Illinois governor imposes stay-at-home order to curb virus
Pritzker’s order, which takes effect Saturday at 5 p.m. and is set to expire April 7, still allows the state’s 12.6 million residents to head outside to buy groceries and medicine.
During a press conference to announce this order, Dr. Emily Landon, the lead epidemiologist at the University of Chicago said:
“The healthy and optimistic among us will doom the vulnerable… A successful shelter in place means you’ll feel like it was all for nothing. Because nothing happened to your family.”
Dr. Emily Landon (@emilymicheleL), an infectious disease specialist in Chicago, gave one of the best speeches I have seen in the last 4 weeks. Everyone needs to see it.
