Fiona Hill, a former Russia advisor to Donald Trump, spent 10 hours talking to the Congressional committees leading the impeachment inquiry Monday. While much of what she said is still under wraps, we are learning that she testified extensively about Rudy Giuliani. CNN writes:
Fiona Hill, President Donald Trump’s former top Russia adviser, raised concerns about Rudy Giuliani’s role in US foreign policy toward Ukraine, telling lawmakers on Monday that she saw “wrongdoing” in the American foreign policy and tried to report it to officials including the National Security Council’s attorney, according to multiple sources.
The New York Times adds that Hill “testified that Mr. (John) Bolton told her to notify the chief lawyer for the National Security Council about a rogue effort by Mr. (Gordon) Sondland, Mr. Giuliani and Mick Mulvaney, the acting White House chief of staff, according to the people familiar with the testimony.”
“I am not part of whatever drug deal Sondland and Mulvaney are cooking up,” Mr. Bolton, a Yale-trained lawyer, told Ms. Hill to tell White House lawyers, according to two people at the deposition.
Sounds like Congressional leaders should try to question John Bolton and Mick Mulvaney. Up to this point, Mulvaney has only been subpoenaed for documents.
The other person mentioned in Hill’s testimony that figures prominently is Gordon Sondland, the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union. He is set to testify Thursday.
