Category 5 Hurricane Dorian passed directly over the Bahamas with winds in excess of 200 mph leaving horrific devastation on many islands. Some of the worst hit areas were the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama where video showed homes destroyed and high water.
The first fatality from the storm has been reported in the Bahamas and there is concern for many who are missing.
NBC News is reporting authorities may not reach some victims until Wednesday.
Meanwhile on Monday morning the storm’s center has all but stalled over Grand Bahama Island moving at 1 mph.
Remarkably, cellphone service remains in parts of the islands, as those who stayed behind send remarkable video of the devastation.
