Donald Trump and his defenders have been trying to push their theory that Joe Biden wants to defund police. As News & Guts has reported before there, Joe Biden has made it clear this isn’t true saying, “I do not support defunding police.” Thursday, both CNN and Fox News corrected Trump 2020 campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley when he remarked Biden wanted to defund police, but that wasn’t enough of a hint to Trump to drop this claim. Friday, during an interview, the president tried to tell Chris Wallace the same thing. That’s when the Fox News Sunday host fact-checked him in real-time. Trump tried to double down, asking someone off-camera for proof that Biden said he wanted to defund police. Let’s just say it didn’t go away.
