Comey on Nunes Memo: “That’s It?”

Responding to today’s release of the Nunes memo, former FBI director James Comey, who was fired by President Trump in June, tweeted his thoughts. And needless to say, the former official who has been vocal in his support of his colleagues in the Bureau, was not impressed by 4-page memos allegations of bias on the part of career investigators.

That’s it? Dishonest and misleading memo wrecked the House intel committee, destroyed trust with Intelligence Community, damaged relationship with FISA court, and inexcusably exposed classified investigation of an American citizen. For what? DOJ & FBI must keep doing their jobs.

Comey’s brushing-aside rejection of the memo comes shortly after his fellow Republican, Arizona senator John McCain, released a statement blasting the White House for the move, which seems intended to undermine the FBI and by extension Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is looking into alleged ties between the Trump presidential operation and Russian officials close to the Kremlin. “If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin’s job for him,” McCain said.
