Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon has surrendered himself at the FBI Field Office in Washington. Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury on contempt of Congress charges. If convicted he could face up to two years in jail.

He is expected to appear Monday afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robin M. Meriweather for his arraignment. Bannon, in a sudden return to relevance from the obscurity of his far-right podcast, commented before cameras that “We’re taking down the Biden regime.”

David Schoen, an attorney who represented Donald Trump at his impeachment trial, has signed on to represent Bannon.

The 67-year-old Bannon has refused to cooperate with the Congressional committee investigating the insurrection on January 6th. The committee wants to ask Bannon, who has claimed executive privilege, about his role in the coup attempt.
