In the wake of coronavirus, airlines have announced some reduced flights, and now Amtrak is doing the same. The transportation company suspending part of its popular Acela service between New York City and Washington DC. Amtrak says it’s due in part to “reduced demand for our service.” CNBC reports:
The Acela nonstop service will be temporarily suspended starting Tuesday, March 10 until Tuesday, May 26.
Amtrak has also waived change fees on all existing or new reservations made before April 30.
This route is especially popular with business travelers. It’s Acela service with stops will continue.
Amtrak also say it will be “increasing the frequency of cleaning services to multiple times a day, and in some cases, on an hourly basis.”
