Seven people are dead and seven injured after a World War II B17 plane crashed at Bradley International Airport in Hartford, CT. One witness says it appears the plane lost an engine before it attempted to return to the airport. NBC News reports:
There were 13 people on board the Boeing B-17, two pilots, one attendant, and 10 passengers. Another person on the ground was injured when the plane slid off the runway and slammed into a building used to house the airport’s deicing equipment, officials said.
#UPDATE Officials say there are fewer than 20 of this type of B17 aircraft in the country. “It’s a vintage airplane that needs to be properly maintained.” @NBCConnecticut #nbcct

The bomber was owned by The Collings Foundation, a Massachusetts nonprofit that restores World War II-era aircraft and invites the public to pay to fly in the vintage planes. It was one of five planes, — two fighter planes and three bombers — that were at the airport this week for tours and flights through the Wings of Freedom Tour.
