What is it with the Equal Rights Amendment?  Why is this so difficult?  Last time we looked it was 2019.  Last Week Tonight with John Oliver looked at the ERA this week. Oliver remarked:

“I want to focus on a milestone for gender equality that we haven’t actually achieved yet, the Equal Rights Amendment… 80% of us think it’s already in the Constitution. It’s one of those things that’s so obvious you assume we already have it.”

“The ERA could at the very least be a safeguard from things sliding further backward.” Oliver says that is happening right now thanks to some policies “based on who’s in charge.”
