As expected, Attorney General William Barr didn’t show up for his scheduled appearance before a House Judiciary Committee hearing today on the Mueller report. Barr’s team says he didn’t approve of having staff attorneys question him. But that excuse wasn’t good enough for the chairman of the committee. Jerrold Nadler said he will give Barr “a day or two” to change his mind before escalating this process:

“We will make one more good faith attempt to negotiate and to get the access to the report that we need, and then, if we don’t get that, we will proceed to hold the attorney general in contempt and we’ll go from there.”
