Call it the Brett Kavanaugh effect. Today his vote made a difference in swaying the court to allow Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people in the military to go forward. The four liberals dissented.

Last March Trump implemented a policy that stated “transgender persons are… disqualified from military service except under certain limited circumstances.” A lower court had put the policy on hold while several lawsuits worked their way through the system. Now this means the policy will take effect while the cases are heard in lower courts.
